Description
The Story
Taking inspiration from the traditional Grandfather collar shirt - originally worn by workers, farmers and factory hands during the 1920's and 30's. The story goes that since these trades didn’t wear a tie for fear of it getting stuck in the machinery, as a result they adopted a shirt with a simple band collar.
The original Admiralty Shirt features in our 1930s catalogue "as supplied to H.M. Government"
The Detail We use a twill weave cloth, which is a cotton - linen blend. The linen gives the fabric a great rumpled appearance with the occasional slub which gets even better when it’s washed and worn.
The style is collarless with a narrow stand collar band, and a half front placket. We have used Codelite buttons made in England from milk casein as they would have been 100 years ago, which is bio-degradable, sustainable and traceable.
Made in Great Yarmouth, Great Britain
