A Clock With a Past
Our reclaimed whisky barrel clocks are handmade from genuine oak barrel lids, each carrying the marks, colour and character of its previous life.
When the lids arrive at our Devon workshop, they’re rarely pretty. Years of use can leave them darkened with grime, wax and residue — but underneath is beautiful aged oak. We carefully clean and sand each lid by hand, working with the timber rather than trying to make every clock look the same.
The result is a completely individual statement clock, full of natural variation, character and patina.
Choose Your Own Barrel Lid
This is not a case of ordering a clock and receiving whichever one comes next.
Once you place your order, we’ll show you photographs of the whisky barrel lids we currently have available so you can choose the one you love. They naturally vary in colour, grain, markings and size, generally measuring between 50–60cm in diameter.
If a lid is particularly dark or weathered, we can also sand a small test area to give you an idea of the oak hiding underneath before you make your choice.
Made for Your Space
Once you’ve chosen your barrel lid, we’ll talk you through the finishing details.
You can choose:
- Clock face: natural oak or a coloured finish
- Numbers: classic numbers or Roman numerals
- Number finish: natural or a chosen spray colour
- Clock mechanism and hands: black, brushed silver, rose gold or brushed gold
Because every barrel lid is different, every finished clock is different too. Knocks, marks, variations in grain and changes in colour are all part of the history of the oak rather than imperfections to be removed.
Once you have ordered your clock we will get in touch with photos of barrel lids to choose from and confirm your choice of colours for the numbers and mechanism.
Handmade in Devon
Each clock is restored and finished by us in our Cockington Court workshop in Devon. Rather than turning new timber into something made to look old, we love taking a piece of oak that already has a story and giving it a completely new purpose.
The finished clock works beautifully as a statement piece in kitchens, dining rooms, living spaces, bars and home entertaining spaces.
